Here’s a brand new set of Proper Pickups “Froosh” handwound Stratocaster pickups.
The “Froosh” set was inspired by the tones heard throughout Stadium Arcadium and developed after studying an actual early-’60s Strat pickup set we found in Boston. Think glassy cleans, slightly-scooped mids, massive in-between tones, and a bridge pickup that stays musical instead of harsh.
Hand-wound one-by-one in the USA exclusively for Proper Pickups by our partner Adam in Nebraska.
Specifications:
• 6.1k, 6.1k, 6.5k DCR, 2.59H neck/middle, 2.8H bridge @100kHz
• Alnico 5 magnets
• 42 AWG Heavy Formvar wire
• Cloth push-back leads
• Vintage-style stagger
• Light lacquer dip
• Handwound in the USA
The pickup covers included with this set are Proper Aged White. Our most premium set of hand-aged pickup covers.
Every pickup set includes:
• Genuine .033 Paper-in-Oil capacitor:
• 220pF treble bleed volume cap
• Lifetime Warranty
*We hate traditional treble bleeds at Cranston Guitars. The 220pf by itself across the volume pot is highly recommended for all strat owners to retain some harmonics at bedroom volumes. This also allows you to crank a tube amp and keep your volume around 1 or 2 and be able to play at home. No attenuator needed...
We don’t just love Strats—we adore them. Proper Instruments redefines the simplicity of Leo’s original design. Most Strats are muddy when the tone controls are below 7. Players just live with it—or add a treble bleed.
That’s child’s play.
Proper Passive is built to be usable from 0–10—you can’t get a bad sound, even at bedroom volumes. 0 starts your journey—JM/BB-style. 10 delivers full SRV bite and presence. Everything in between is there for the taking.
All with no batteries or useless blender controls, Ever.

Setup, overhaul, or full restoration—we’ve got you.
Every guitar is different. We take the time to understand what you have and what you want before recommending our services. No upsells. No guesswork. Just real guidance backed by experience.
